Limbo Just Hit
This will feel more like a journal entry than anything else. I guess they all do.
Some news. I am in the midst of some kind of employment limbo. That’s really the only news, but it has caused some pretty big ripples, and the development of a new plan.
Basically, there’s some question of how to proceed. I intend to stay with my company for the time being but I am thinking about the transition ahead that I will undoubtedly have to make, and I think I’ll have to continue with the personal work but push it into overdrive.
That’s the podcast. That’s the book(s) and their audio equivalents. That’s animation. That’s shooting stuff. That’s the creation of an app I’ve been considering. And that’s python. Each thing helps the other. Animation helps the podcast and any marketing moving forward. Python helps me create that app. I have to do all of these things simultaneously and there’s some challenge with that. But I’ve done an alright job so far making it happen. I push in all directions as the days continue, but that’s where that overdrive has to come into play.
As far as priorities, I do have some kind of process for which to invest my current time and energy into. A lot of it has to do with asking ChatGPT for advice so I can see where to put my energies. Some other part of that is asking friends and mentors for advice, for generally more practical (and often less technical) perspectives.
So as of now, I slip in writing whenever possible, and I hit all the low-hanging fruit that I can. When I push something as far as I can immediately take it, or hit a wall, I move to something else. Because of this, my python studies have slowed some, so I will have to make an effort to start that engine back up, but as far as the app goes, I’ve created a deck explaining it and will be showing that to a developer friend, so that hasn’t completely died.
The book, I have an outline up and a chapter written.
For animation, I’ve been learning cascadeur and so I’ll be making animated sequences of some of my projects as a way to market them with no-budget and the resources I have readily available. And that will play into my podcast as well. I will actually be using AI generated voice acting for those excerpts.
I guess I’ll just have to keep it up.
Ideally, between self-publishing my novella and its audiobook, and marketing that online with my animation capabilities and the podcast, I would hope for a set number of reads per month and that will be the income move. I will also be seeking literary representation for the next book and the screenplays I’ve already written in the hopes that that will raise my star, and increase my opportunities. I will also be moving into animating a short film to put into festivals. And I will also be looking to see if my app can get any traction.
I can’t think of a better plan at the moment, but if there are other ideas out there, I’d be happy to hear them, in how to leverage my skillsets to create for me a career of creativity, production, and personal progress.
